Jern-yang started his career with an audit SMP* before joining the Financial Services audit unit of KPMG. He has deep experience in auditing financial institutions, including audits of financial statements, key processes and controls, and compliance with local banking and capital markets services licenses’ regulations. His client portfolio included banks, fund managers, funds and unit trusts, capital markets service license holders, and Sovereign Wealth Funds. In addition, Jern-yang has also been involved in various non-assurance services, including the issuance of comfort letter attestation for a client’s listed debt issuance program.
With the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (ACRA), Jern-yang’s key responsibilities included the practice reviews of audits carried out by public accountants (specializing in financial services) and performing regulatory and controls reviews of the system of quality controls of public accounting entities. He was also involved in the development of the inspection framework of controls of public accountancy firms in compliance with the Singapore Standard on Quality Management 1 (SSQM 1), and also led and supported international outreach with foreign regulators in forums and key international initiatives.
